Francesco has a PhD in Urban Policies at the Polytechnic of Milan, and is currently senior research fellow at Gran Sasso Science Institute (L’Aquila, Italy), where is a member of the committee of the international PhD Program in Urban Studies. His research focuses mainly on planning theory and urban conflicts. His papers have appeared in international journals such as Planning Theory, Town Planning Review, European Planning Studies, Cities, Geoforum, Journal of Urban Affairs, Planning Perspectives, Urban Research and Practice. A key part of his research focuses on the spatial dimension of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict over Jerusalem. His last work on this issue is “Shaping Jerusalem. Spatial planning, politics and the conflict” (forthcoming by Routledge, London and New York).
